A refreshing glass of cold water is a perfect way to hydrate yourself throughout the day. Hopefully, good experiences with water are what comes your way, but that is not always the case. Water damage is a stressful situation that can be caused by leaking water, pipe bursts, flooding, etc. Water that enters your home will seep into as many surfaces as it can. The water causing damage may be contaminated with bacteria and viruses. This is harmful to health. Mold, which comes if water damage is not quickly taken care of, is also harmful to the health of residents. The problems of water damage will only escalate when professional help is not promptly brought in. It is important to know that most the damage is reversible and that your home can be restored!
The restoration process is highly effective, extensive, and thorough. The goal is to reverse the effects observed (and even unobserved) of water damage. Your home will be both safe and comfortable when the process is done. The first step in the process is extracting the water and drying the property. Advanced drying equipment is used to gently but efficiently extract water. After drying, any damaged belongings will be cleaned and repaired. The affected area and surrounding areas in the home will be cleaned and dehumidified. This will prevent the growth of mold and mildew. Carpet damaged by water may need to be replaced during the restoration process. Due to advanced technology, certification, training, and practice, technicians are able to leave a building completely dry after completing their process.
While water damage is not necessarily avoidable, there are some easy steps you can take to prevent yourself from experiencing home water damage. The first of these steps is to check and clean out your gutters and downspouts. Clogged gutters and downspouts could lead to a buildup of debris, and eventually water damage. A tip for downspouts is to make sure they direct water 5-10 feet away from the house. The closer outside water is to your home, the more likely it is to possibly cause water damage.
If possible, buy or build a home that tilts the landscape away from your home. Landscaping is a key way to control flooding. If your yard is shaped like a bowl or tilts towards your home, your home will be like a magnet for water on rainy days. The gradient will play a key factor in where water pools near your home. Another thing you can do is check up on pipes. Even little leaks from a pipe can cause problems if not fixed. Small leaks sometimes turn into larger leaks as well as the integrity of a pipe breaks down. Repairing your pipes now may save you the money of having to repair water damage later on. In addition to pipes, check up on the caulking of your windows and doors to make sure they are still working properly. If the caulking is cracked or old it may need to be repaired or replaced. Always check your water bills to make sure they look normal. If your bill prices raised dramatically, there may be a leak causing more water flow.

Curtis & his crew were very helpful & quick to respond. They informed me of everything they did with everything & answered any questions I had in a timely matter. I would strongly suggest using them!
I don’t normally write reviews, not sure why, I just typically do not take the time to do it. In this case I thought the service I received from Curt and his crew warranted some recognition. I would highly recommend this company to any of my friends and family. My basement flooded, despite having a pretty elaborate sump pump set-up. I was referred to Curt, gave him a call and he was at my house to evaluate within the hour. He and his crew immediately took action and mimimized the damage to my finished basement. Through the whole process they were timely, respectful of my property, cleaned up after themselves and even made my wife and kids feel comfortable while work was in progress when I was not at home. Dealing with the insurance aspect I thought would be a pain, but that went well also, largely to do with Curt taking care of the vast majority of the detail directly with the adjuster. Hopefully I never have the need for that service again, but if I do, I will be calling on Restoration 1.
My mother and I were hurricane Michael disaster victims, we live in Port St. Joe FL. We stayed there during the storm, it was the most terrifying humbling experience I have ever been thru… We stayed in the attic for 2 1/2 hrs while we listened to our home fill with water, my mother’s and my life’s worth of of work and memories floating around… banging into each other… when the water finally receded we were left with virtually nothing. Our home had sea water and silt everywhere…. it smelled like a marshland… all we could do was stare in horror at our destroyed home. We had never been in a experience like this before so we had no idea what to do. I was driving a couple days later and saw Keith and his crew working at a friends moms house, I stopped and introduced myself and told him our situation. Right from the moment I met Keith he had warm, friendly personality. They stopped by the next day, checked over our home, gave advice on how to clean up, what we could do to prep, and gave us a bit of direction. It was nice to feel like somebody was trying to help. Gary and the demo crew got there, they were super efficient, they prepped the house in a couple days and got it ready for treatment and drying. JR was the moisture reader tec and he was a great guy and a hard worker. He checked our house every day till it was perfect. Keith stayed with us thru the whole process and helped us with questions and offered help finding other services too. They were a great company and I was glad I used them and would recommend them to anyone.
